Understanding the 3 types of Generative AI users
In the area of generative artificial intelligence (AI), there are really 3 groups or types of users within the ecosystem. They fall under curious individuals seeking unique creations, proficient developers delving into the intricacies of coding in AI, or mathematicians shaping the algorithms themselves. Let's explore these three types of users and their distinct approaches to harnessing the power of AI.
1. Prompt Engineers
For these individuals, interracting with generative AI begins with a simple prompt. The official terminology is pompt-engineers. Prompt engineering is now a trending field and has become the lowest bar of entry for the avergae joe. These users can be the creators who ignite the AI models with their words. By typing in prompts or descriptions, they breathe life into the algorithms.
Whether it's summoning a fantastical creature or generating a unique piece of art, prompt-engineers use language to coax AI models into crafting their visions. With keywords like "dog portrait in the style of Leonardo da Vinci", the AI model engine produces unique images of dog portraits using the style of Leonardo da Vinci. There's a certain art form developed as users understand cause and effect of the prompts.
2. Developers
The other type of users are the developers. They are the ones that use languages like Python as a means of communicating with the AI models. They would still speak to the Generative AI models but this time it'll be through an API (Application Programming Interface). It presents an exhilarating playground for exploration. Armed with Python and a reasonable understanding of machine learning frameworks, developer enthusiasts can interact directly with AI models. These users are usually motivated to controlling the form of output and want a more direct communication channel with the AI. They don't need a deep understanding of how models work they just need a high level knowledge of it.
These developers can also be involed in training the AI to fine-tune algorithms, customize parameters, and push the boundaries of generative AI capabilities. We are at AI Fitted fall in this category.
3. Mathematicians
At the heart of generative AI lie the mathematical individuals who conceive and sculpt the algorithms that power it.
With a blend of mathematics and statistics being the entry level in this area, it reduces the numbers working in this area. They design the mathematical models, neural networks, and shape of data. They would sometimes work with the Developers to provide easy API's info the models but they would mostly work on the core. Most AI Mathematicians understand programming to be effective but it's worth calling out the distinct nature of this skillset as a group.
Embracing Diversity in Generative AI
Which area do you see yourself? It's clear that each perspective brings a unique flavour to the table. Whether you're a wordsmith crafting prompts, a coder sculpting apis or algorithms, or a mathematician shaping the models, there's room for creativity and innovation at every turn.
